Work-Related Injuries and Return to Work Certificates

At Corrie St Medical Clinic, many of our doctors specialize in managing work-related injuries. If you sustain a work-related injury, please follow these steps:

  1. Notify Your Employer: Inform your employer about the injury as soon as possible.
  2. Consult a Doctor: Speak to a doctor immediately for advice and to obtain a Return to Work certificate. This initial consultation may involve a fee, but it will be reimbursed once your Work Cover claim is approved.
  3. Work Cover Claim: Your insurer will provide you with a Work Cover claim number and a case manager. You will need to provide these details to your doctor.
  4. Return to Work Certificate:
    • Purpose: The Return to Work certificate outlines the duties you can and cannot perform and provides recommendations to support your recovery.
    • Communication: It is used to communicate your Work Cover case with your insurer, employer, and other involved health professionals.
    • Regular Updates: The certificate must be updated regularly by your nominated Work Cover doctor until you are fit to return to your pre-injury duties. It is important to follow up with the same doctor for all Work Cover appointments to ensure consistent management.
